Beautiful With Blue Kitchen
The Challenge
The challenge was an original dark kitchen that did not maximize the vertical space above the cabinets. Additionally, the counter space was too limited for a couple that regularly hosted and entertained guests.
The Vision
The vision was to create a large island with seating to replace the traditional kitchen table. The inspiration for the entire design began with a unique European patterned tile featuring a rich blue, which the clients wanted to showcase behind the range. It was decided to bring that same blue into the island cabinetry, which would house unique storage and seating, while keeping the perimeter cabinets white to ensure the room stayed bright. For the flooring, a large square neutral grey tile was selected to run through the kitchen and all the way to the front entrance.
The Solution
The solution was beautiful bright white quartz countertops with soft blue-grey veining. The L-shaped island was designed to accommodate five dining seats, and several unique storage features were incorporated, including a specialized cutting board drawer that drops scraps directly into the compost below. The final result is an impressive entertainment zone perfect for friends and family!
