The Challenge
The challenge was a full-scale renovation of a generational farmhouse, involving a complete gutting and the construction of a new addition. A primary goal was to preserve the home’s history by keeping and sanding the original hardwood floors.
The Vision
The vision was to maintain the character of the client’s childhood home by preserving specific architectural details. To accommodate new cabinetry, the windows were shortened, and the original exposed brick was integrated as a feature behind the range. Additionally, the client required a large hickory island with a secondary sink to facilitate family gatherings.
The Solution
The solution was a design complete with decorative barnboard ceiling beams and beadboard cabinets, which were glazed to add depth and character. The final reveal featured stunning Dekton countertops and a custom wood inlay, providing the rustic quality necessary to tie the farmhouse aesthetic together.
