Unique Bright Kitchen

The Challenge

The challenge was a cramped, narrow, and dark kitchen that had no windows except for a patio door at the far end. Too many doorways created a congested flow into the adjacent family room.

The Vision

The vision was to remove the load-bearing wall and all existing doorways. Per the architect, one structural post had to remain, leading to the ingenious idea of using a round Sonotube to encase it. This created an architectural detail that was accented with wood shelves on the backside for added interest. Additionally, the client wanted a unique glass dining table attached to the island and a new window to introduce natural light.

The Solution

The solution was a layout that included a bar servery at the end of the kitchen and a corner butterfly sink, allowing for ample prep space in front of the window and next to the slide-in range. A base pantry cabinet with swing-out shelves was used to maximize storage. The final result features rich countertops, a custom backsplash, and wood accents, creating a space ready for family cooking and entertaining memories to be made.
